Includrs is a Human Resources reporting and training tool designed to put employees first — particularly BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other employees who fall into marginalized groups. Our goal with Includrs is to create a diversity, equity, and inclusion ecosystem in the workplace. I was brought on in the very early stages of this start-up to lead the design efforts, and have been involved in the project from conceptualization to development. The work is ongoing.
THE PROBLEM(S)
in the workplace, People are uninformed and unenlightened about appropriate behavior concerning group identity
Educational and informational resources are often transactional and buried in “HR Handbooks”
Stand-alone workshops are largely episodic and typically do not measure efficacy
IN THE WORKPLACE, Victims of unwanted behavior consistently avoid confrontation with offenders while also declining to report incidents to HR partners
Many behaviors are subtle and seemingly ambiguous to outsiders
Underreporting leads to lagging indicators of workplace culture

As an employee, I want to complete an anonymous demographic profile so that my company can improve and maintain a safe and inclusive workplace.
As an employee I want to understand the impact of an HR workshop so that I can understand my own resulting growth and development.
When employees is in an intimate relationship with a colleague, they may elect to complete a legally binding contract to document consent and protect their own interests in reference to their employer.
As an employee I want to anonymously submit HR incidents so that I can prevent future potential occurrences and promote a safe environment for myself and my piers.
As an employee I want to consume content that enriches my understanding of my inherit biases so that I can improve my personal work place effectiveness while building a culture of inclusiveness for my colleagues.
HR Administrators
As an HR administrator I want to be able to analyze trends in anonymous reports so that I can develop programs and solutions the promote a safer more inclusive workplace.
As an HR administrator I want to analyze workshop measurement so that I can understand impact and need for additional training.
As an HR administrator I want to manage employee attendees for a workshop so that I can verify their attendance.

HOW WILL WE BE CREATING A DIVERSITY, EQUITY,AND INCLUSION ECOSYSTEM?
Workshops
Provide employees with workshops and training on subjects concerning equity in the workplace, especially around appropriate behavior concerning group identity. Designed to give employees variety on how they consume new information (audio, collaboration via a chat feature, etc).
Assessments
Pre and post workshop assessments for employees.
Proprietary Individualized “Inclusion Score” for organizations based on employee assessments and reporting. This will be found in the HR Administrator portal.

This entire project is an ongoing reminder to myself that designers absolutely have a role to play when it comes to equity and social justice.
